Volunteer members of our department enjoy access to a wide range of training opportunities, most of which are free of charge. All recruits are trained to a minimum level of state certified Firefighter I, Haz-Mat Operations and Emergency Medical Responder.
Additional training in technical rescue, Firefighter II, and Hazardous Materials is offered on a regular basis. EMS education is a constant with IV Approval, EKG, ACLS, CPR, Refresher courses, and CE's that are both in-house and outside education. All free to our staff.
SAFD offers a healthy pension plan to members who serve a minimum of 10 years.
Most importantly, SAFD members gain valuable experience in the fire service and EMS. Our department has been the launching point of many successful careers in public safety.
